Listened to the TAD E1, and although I liked them, they are no match for the Magico S3.
(IMHO)

Hi imprezap2,

Good for you that you liked the Magico better than the TAD, as your V3, which I heard some time ago with top of the line Spectral gear, I found it has the same sound-signature.

Real dealbreakers for me with the Magico S3 was the, in comparison, weak and less focussed bottom end, also instruments had far less body.
Stage and focus found in general were with S3 behind the E1.
Mids and heights were with both outstanding, although somewhat different.
Liked the overall presentation (and looks) of the TAD also better.

Personal indeed and thanks we all have our own preferences.

What did you like better in the Magico versus the TAD.

Hi Stock78,

Bottom end of the S3's is not weak or less focussed, as they are closed design it might seem that way, but they go deeper and have more precision than the E1.

Don't get me wrong, I also like the E1's (for sure in looks department), but overall I think the S3's have more body, are more coherent and slightly more musical.

It's a bit apples and pears, the S3 being a floorstander and the E1 being a standmount.
IMO the E1 should be compared to the Q1.

Anyway, as you say, we all have our own preferences.

imprezap2,

Confusion here occurs. I made it clear in the second post it was the TAD Evolution One (E1) which was compared to the Magico S3. This E1 is also a floorstander.
I think you compared S3 with the Compact Evolution One (CE1), which is indeed a standmount.
And I said that the S3 was weak and less focussed, IN COMPARISON! (to TAD E1); I did not say that S3 is W & LF.

However, I liked even the CE1 better overall, as each his own.

Thanks for your insights.

Hi Stock78,

Reading back your first post, it is mentioned the standmount was better than the S3.
(that's where I responded)

But I won't loose any sleep over it :-)

"Fraud" is rather harsh. The thread reveals the distinct possibility of a mistake.
