I also added 3 Standards rated at 25 lbs. under my D1100, previously I had 6 Lights rated at 9 lbs. under it. I sent 3 Lights back to Wilson and will soon place 3 Lights under my new Wilson ActivXO crossover after I have heard the new Pedestals under my 3500's. I now have Wilson Acoustic Diodes under my XVX, a custom made 150 plus pound plinth made by Wilson consisting of X-material and supported by modified Acoustic Diodes under my Thor, and Wilson Pedestals under all my main gear for 2-channel listening. My MVP881 BR player has been returned to Mac. The drawer is stuck. The TV is a new Sony. It was quite a feat to get the Marantz LD player connected to the new Sony but we obviously accomplished it. My dealer is a wizard. The sonics: I don't have words to describe them. You folks that think Mac has a warm laid back sound lacking in resolution need to listen to my system. The tremendous speed and clarity are electric without a trace of hardness. You have to resist turning it up to ridiculous sound levels, because the sound doesn't change. The XVX simply has no upper limit and my 3500's do. The volume on the D1100 is set at 70%. You couldn't remotely carry on a conversation but it doesn't sound loud, even though the system is at 100 plus dB. The XVX is just loafing. The bass impact is incredible but the soft bass decay/notes must be heard to be appreciated. I've never heard anything like it.

WOW Charles! Truly amazing.
In a great system everything is important. What the units stands on is one important thing.

I'v contacted a company that is specialiced in vibration and damping for different industries and concert halls. We talked about how my HiFi-units were standing and the whight and so on. They produced som different types of dampning for me to try out. I tried them and chose those who were sounding the best. For the most a bit higher resonance frequencies than calculated sounded the best.
That made a very positive difference.

Yeah, I totally agree. By the way, your photos are great. It was your photography that pushed me to find a way to post pics on AA.

This is an incredible system. Curious if you ever considered Silent Running Audio (SRA) platforms which might lead to not needing any additional footers/pedestals. I keep going back and forth internally of keeping my Copulare Tonbasen amp stands or changing to the SRAs.

Glad you are enjoying music with your McIntosh equipment. It’s gorgeous.

Still setting up after my move. Enjoy.

Audioquest4Life, thank you so much for the post and compliment. When I eventually place my Light (silvers) under my ActivXO crossover, I will be finished. I think there are many excellent ways to achieve vibration mitigation. One of the most effective ways is to remove all the source gear, especially turntables from the source of the vibration as I have done with my solid walnut CWD cabinet. But its expensive. My 24' balanced Wel Signature IC's come in at 28/K pair. The amps are positioned forward from the Thor but nevertheless had some small vibration coming up through the floor on heavy bass notes. The Heavies have eliminated this residual vibration. Several years ago I was told by Ivan and others on AA that I needed to lift my Thor off the floor. When I finally did, I was quite surprised how much better it sounded. I then began the journey with Wilson maybe about a year or two ago with their Pedestals. Also with the Wilson Acoustic Diodes. In addition, I have extensive room treatments that totally eliminate slap echo, etc. using trial and error.

There are two systems on AA that I would love to hear: SCA Audiophile's and Apexorca's. Of those two, it's a hard choice but I guess I'd have to go with Carl's because of his Krell's and his Fenice's together with his new Gotham subwoofer and all the upgrades to cables, connections, vibration mitigation, etc. But Mark's system with his Legacy Valor's....it's a tossup. Both are systems to kill for.

Best

Charles

Just went from this today (C22/MC275):

to this (MA8950), as we start the "great downsizing" in order to move into our retirement condo. Vintage Sony will have to go and I'll have to figure out how to fit 2 turntables on a single-width rack.

Thank you. Sounds as good as it looks (when running). For all their vaunted "easy to drive" accolades, to my ears the Devore 0/93s really sound better with some solid-state power in control. Clarity & effortless SQ is how I would describe it.
Unfortunately, she suffered in shipping (screws that held the unit to the base-plate were bent - likely dropped by UPS) and suffers a thermal shutdown after about an hour & half of running. Will be swapping it out for a fresh unit (going to pick it up rather than ship) on Monday or Tuesday. If time allows, hope to visit the factory. Props to Audio Classics for taking care of the problem with no questions ask.

What a blessing you found out early on and kudos to Audio Classics for taking care of business!

Yes. Turns out to be wired for 100vac. Either a wiring mistake at the factory or, more likely, a packing mistake in marking the box for 120vac.
