I have hardwood floors with a thick carpet with padding underneath as a throw rug covering most of the hardwood floor, the speakers rest on the carpet. Would slabs such as yours help me in any way with my 802 Diamonds?

..those 4 granite slabs were to add weight to the M/T cabinet as were the diving bricks. You will notice the 2 diving bricks and urns atop the subwoofers...that's an additional 30 lbs that as with the speakers tends to kill any resonance..

Anywhere you see granite it's the same 3cm Absolute Black..

addendum: sorry I missed the essence of your question. The granite slabs under the VSAs are there due to the wood floor...no spikes obviously hence the granite. I have furniture gliders on the bottom side of the slabs which facilitate positioning. One of the biggest tweaks I've done was to install those CMS Rize footers....the improvement was not subtle..

Some great photos in this thread.

I am new here. I was in to Hi End audio a long time ago, but with family and building a career, etc., I got out of it.

So I am trying to slowly get back into the world of quality audio.

Even though I live in California now, I grew up in Binghamton and have always been a fan of McIntosh. At one point I did own a full McIntosh tube system, but that was a long while ago now.

Thank you thank you. I have made my first McIntosh orders in a very long time.

Starting with the MX-A70. I will be using my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 as a dedicated source provider. I have ripped all of my CDs and also have Sirius radio setup.

I also ordered the MHP-1000 headphones. Can't wait for the equipment to arrive and start getting back into McIntosh music again!!!

I found a photo of my last hi end system from back in probably the mid 90's.

Dual Mono Audionics amps, Technics Pro Tuner, Nakamichi Deck, Korn MacAway table with SME arm and Grace Ruby cartridge, Can't remember the name, but a album vaccum machine, and KEF speakers. Back in the day it was pretty cool, but I still preferred the tube McIntosh I had prior to that. Can't wait to start listening to real music again!
