Not classical exactly, but "The Star-Spangled Banner" as played by the NY Philharmonic, Loren Maazel conducting, from The Pyongyang Concert BD/DVD. I was almost moved to tears the first time I heard it. Really great stuff, the way it should be played.

Also, Fanfare for the Common Man. There are a zillion versions, but my favorite so far is the one by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Louis Lane conducting. If you want to jam, there's ELP's version.

You know, but Virgil Fox and Carlo Curley both did excellent renditions of "The Star-Spangled Banner" for pipe organ as well. It typically brings a tear to my eye. Of course, Carlo studied under Virgil, so their playing techniques were very similar for obvious reasons.

That would be interesting to hear, certainly. And more so, if it's played at the same stately cadence as the NYP version.

Mozart created a masterpiece with his Serenade #13 for strings in G Major.

Another of my favorites is Sibelius's - Finlandia

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5zg_af9b8c]Jean Sibelius - Finlandia - YouTube[/ame]

Part of Finlandia is used in such familiar tunes as Be Still My Soul
