Don't forget, I think first reflections off the ceiling is important in avoiding that overly tall image height. Thus, cloud installation is important.

Of course, rake, tweeter height also play a role, but remember that most of your vocal reproduction is done by the midrange.

In my experience with the IRS-V, the sound of midrange and high frequencies is mostly resolved to the midpoints of the speakers heights, while the low frequencies sound "large." Large speakers should not be listened to at close range. My listening chair is about 21-22 feet from the speakers. I want to feel like I am in a concert hall, not in a room listening to speakers regardless of how good they might be. Besides, with large speakers, you need room for all the drivers to integrate their sound and close up, with few exceptions, this isn't going to happen. Once I get about 15 feet away from the IRS, the sound is pretty similar throughout the room.

As was mentioned earlier, the tilt of the speaker also influences the height of the soundstage, especially with line sources and dipoles.
