April Fools Day Speaker Upgrade
April Fools day was a great day for me. I sold my beloved Thiel 3.6's to a great guy who drove down from upper state NY to MA to pick them up. No sooner where they gone when a truck pulled up with my new Aerial 7T's courtesy of Masterlu. Another great transaction. Thanks Ivan.
2 hours later after calling in the calvary for some help they were hooked up to my system and while not sounding like the broken in pair I auditioned were still very enjoyable. I have around 35 hours on them and they are breaking in nicely. I enjoy them more everyday. My wife loves how they look in the room an does not even mind them with the grills off as long as they are on when we have company. The question is what is next? Power cables/management, power amp or is it time to say goodbye to my venerable VPI HW-19 JR TT. Sound treatment for the room maybe. I need time to think and just enjoy where I am for a while.

Congratulations Joe on the new speakers! They look great (albeit a small picture), which finish did you end up with?
My recommendation for your next upgrade: tune your room. I see a lot of bare wall and I bet some GIK treatments would make a huge improvement. They did wonders for my space and are cost effective additions. |

Congratulations! I've listened to a pair on display at a local dealer's shop twice (they are well broken in) and they are wonderful speakers!
You have more than enough power for those beauties as they are very efficient and you have those nice 7BST's in place. I totally understand needing some help to unload, unbox and place them. At 96 pounds each they aren't exactly bookshelf speakers! I'd not jump through any more hoops just yet and let them settle in before you go on to what's next. Just to help put a few things in front of you to consider as next steps: 1. Speaker cables. What do you have now from the Brystons to the Aerials? My Aerial 8's improved a bit with a bi-wire arrangement vs. using the connector plates. There was an improvement in detail, spacing, depth of the tweeter and mid-ranges and the bass tightened up considerably. 2. Are you running stock power cables to the Arcam, Bryston(s) and Conrad Johnson gear? Consider an upgrade there if you are. 3. Lastly, what about the rest of your interconnects? Are they all WW?

I love the Aerial 7t's. I've heard them and they perform WAY above their price point. I often wonder what it would be like to move my Sasha's out of the way and plop those in their place. Would I be disappointed? Or would I kick myself for spending more? Who knows. There's too many what if's in this hobby!
Congratulations on your speakers! |
