Master Process Speaker Placement
Hello
I linked Dan's excellent post back in 2014 regarding the "Master Process Speaker Placement technique so I could ask questions regarding definitions, nomenclature, and techniques that I do not understand. http://www.audioaficionado.org/617307-post30.html Quote:

Does this mean you are moving the left speaker away from the side wall towards the middle of the room or away from the back wall (the wall behind the speaker) or both? Thanks so much for the help. Joe Last edited by ngc4900; 01-26-2016 at 01:33 PM. |

The instructions state that in order to do base balance the decibels need to be between 3 and 6. Did I need to purchase a meter and if so can someone recommend one?
Thanks Best Joe |

Actually it states to start the process with your system loud enough to pressurize your room. Eg probably a normal volume - on the C2300, more likely a setting of about 30 to 35. Then as you bring the left speaker toward the listening position, you may need to turn it down by 3 to 6 dB because when the speaker couples with the room, the bass volume will become louder. Craig

The most important thing you can do is learn to trust your ears to hear the cues. If you want to lay down tape measures or document levels so as to give you a better understanding of what you have done, that's great. But it is your ears that are the key. Most importantly, have fun with it and don't get wrapped around the axle. It costs you nothing to go back and correct a previous step or start over. Enjoy! Bill |

Thanks Craig and Bill.
I am going take it easy and practice. If it takes me 6 months, or more, so be it. As I see it, the only risk I may acquire is that my head may explode after several listenings to Jennifer's' song. I will report the number of times one must listen to incur this mortality, scratch that, my wife will report it. Thanks Best Joe |

ngc4900, thank you for starting this thread. I had heard about this procedure but never actually seen it written down, so that's fantastic to have. I'll be attempting to implement it shortly myself, since I know I'm not getting the best from my positioning as it is.
I used to listen to that song for pleasure, I'm guessing that may change shortly!! |

Bill.......I here you. I haven't listened to that song or the CD it is on since I dialed my Amati Anniversario's in. I don't need to spin the disc. I can still hear that double bass in my head.
I have to admit, though, the effort was worth every replay to get it right. Once it all comes together it is magical.
