I traded up from a C2600 to the C2700 about three months ago but this would have not made a big difference in my trade.

The trade up unit must be greater than or equal to the sum of the trade in value and MSRP. In other words approx twice the MSRP of the trade in unit. I will keep my new C1100.

Wow I did not read the fine print. That is not tht good a deal unless your want to move waaaay up on a trade. When I recently moved up from my C2600 to the C2700 it would not have qualified for this program. I actually sold my C2600 to the Music Room and they gave me almost what I paid for it so I was pleased. I bought my C2600 from an authorized dealer as a demo unit and it came with the warranty. It really had not been used at all. They wanted to move it and I paid $4500. I was buying other items at the same time.

While I have not heard either of the two amps you speak of, what I can say is one of the most noticeable upgrades I have made in my McIntosh/audio adventure was moving from a solid state pre amp to a tube pre amp.

Find a dealer with the 12000, bring your 8000 and have a listen.

Took advantage of the upgrade program this week. Traded in my MA252 for the MA352. Definitely worth it (IMO).

Congrats on that upgrade. You probably met the minimum requirement without much additional outlay. I have been pleased with my MA352.
