Default What is your favorite vinyl box set ?

Please list your favorite vinyl box sets and why you like them so much ? Is the sound quality better or is just the idea of having a complete collection of a certain group/artist ?

I love the bob dylan mono set(Sony/Columbia). Sounds right in mono. Great albums (8) beautifully packaged.

Led Zepplein Mothership. These recordings are really nice, half-speed masters. It definitely brings up a notch or two of this group's performance. You never heard Zep like this before, unless to have some high quality single albums. For $60, it is definitely a steal. It includes 4 LPs, a Book, each member of the band has his own sleeve, 180Gram. Includes some of their biggest hits.

Bill Evans, "The Complete Riverside Recordings," a set of 11 albums remastered from the original tapes to 45 RPM (22 disks) by Analogue Productions. A bargain at $600

They can certainly show EMI a thing or two about how to really put a *cough* Beatles *cough* set of remastered records together.

I am pretty happy with the LP Doors Box set. The gold DCC CD of LA Woman I have sounds better than the LP in the box set. I never warmed up to Soft Parade until the heard the box set LP. Strange Days sounds better than the standard CD I have.

I value my Genesis box set 1970-1975 highest. It's made by Rhino and holds a very good sonic quality besides being the best Genesis era to my ears.
