Hi All... Yesterday I received my PSE 300B that Dennis showed a picture of in post #7326 above. My wife and I spent the evening last night listening and "we" really like it which surprised me since over the years I have compared numerous amps to my trusty Coincident 300B monoblocks and all have... until now... come up substantially short of the Coincidents. Now this puts me in a difficult position as my wife has had quite a lot of medical testing lately and with the associated financial pressures, I had intended to take a quick listen to the PSE 300B to satisfy mu curiosity then pass along and recover the costs to address the medical bills. Now, clearly that is not going to happen and the Coincidents will be listed for sale over the weekend.

By the way thanks Dennis, You Da Man!

My system (photos attached) is as follows:
Power - Shunyata Denali
Streamer - Innuos Mini Mk3 w/ PSU
Dac - Holo May-KTE
Pre - Sachs Custom Line
Amp1 - *** Dennis Had Inspire PSE 300B *** (horns)
Amp2 - Crown XLS 1500 (base drivers)
Horns - BD-Design Orphean w/ Celestion Axi-2050 drivers 220Hz-20KHz
Base - BD-Design Compact Reference
Sub - SVS 16-Ultra

What more can I say?

I'm a semi retired physician/engineer/professor/start up founder/etc etc etc. with a ton of interests and hobbies. I could do a lot of other things instead of trying to tell the world how good Inspire gear sounds. But given as much time as I have spent listening to Dennis' creations, I have become a true believer.

If you could hear what I hear every time I go to the shop, you would be too,

Hi Blackcat,
Nice set up. It certainly sounds great with the horns.
I'm almost a little jealous of the PSE.

The phono stage did not let me rest.
Since there were still some tubes in the basement and the person is curious, I had to play a little.

a JAN CEA 6106 Bendix and the 6188 JAN Philips 6SL7 variant work wonders.

The quiet background noise is as good as gone. if the volume control on the LP2030 is set to maximum, I can't hear anything in 2.5 meters. Only when I am with my head right in front of the speakers is a quiet noise to hear.

I don't hear any difference between line and phono if there is no signal.

Everything now plays as calmly as the famous churches mouse.

it is like looking through a microscope and a telescope at the same time.
you hear the smallest nuances and have the view of the big picture.

Timbres, dynamics, emotions, precision, stage presentation and all other requirements you can place on a system are combined by the new phono stage from Dennis.

this is music playback on a perfect level.

What tubes and rectifier are folks using in the Inspire LP-3a preamps?

So, after 3 days with my new Inspire PSE 300B, I could not be any happier with the amp. I'm stunned in the improvement over my trusty Coincident Frankenstein monoblocks that have defeated all challengers for the last 5 years.

Specifically, the areas that PSE bested the Frankensteins were the lower midrange, the power and clarity of the highs, and the simply huge amounts of air and space around the instruments & performers. The soundstage also expanded about 20% in width BUT at least +50% in depth. Downsides? The only one I can come up with is the amp does run hot but that is the logical outcome of having 4 300Bs and a total compliment of 10 tubes.

Dennis said he should have a better idea of frequency response and efficiency in the next week or so. Originally he thought the efficiency would be around 90 db/w/m, but he thinks it may possibly be better than that now.

As far as frequency response, the tweeter specs have a top end of 22KHz. The question becomes how low can we get this little bad boy to dig...
