Rock - What you listen to in this genre? Tell everyone about it
My idea with this thread is to start a conversation on the Rock music.
What are you listening to? What should we be listening to? What's good and what's not and why? Etc. I will start with a record I just bought used the other day. New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Adventures of Panama Red. Years ago when I first heard the title song I could relate to it ( I was a teenager in the late 60's and 70's, enough said) I hadn't heard this record in years and when I spotted it at the used record store, I picked it right up. To my surprise it was in mint condition. I took it home and played it, knowing I liked the title song and willing to take a chance on the rest. The LP is really very good. Songs like Lonesome LA Cowboy, and Important Exportin Man are catchy tunes you will be singing in the car after you hear the album. Kick in the head and LA Lady have some very good lyrics. It finished up with Cement, Clay and Glass, a story about urban development. All in all if you want to have a little throw back time this is good stuff.

I can only comment at this point on the new Audio Fidelity Gold Cd releases -- all mastered on gold CD by Steve Hoffman from the original analog tapes. Visit AF's website at www.audiofidelity.org
I'm a platimum CD member and have received their first two releases -- Alice Cooper (School's Out) and the Cars (Heartbeat City). Expecting Beach Boys (Pet Sounds) and the Band (brown album) this week. Naturally, hesistant at first to subscribe -- but knowing Steve did the work, did it for me w/no qualms. Highly recommended w/o a doubt. AF is a resurgence, if you will, of the old DCC (which went out of business similiar to MFSL in the day). Last edited by vintage_tube; 04-07-2009 at 11:09 PM. |

Every Black Sabbath CD ever issued or reissue (except for Born Again)!
So far, gone thru: Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master Of Reality, Vol 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage, Technical Ecstasy & Never Say Die (all Ozzy's fronting). The ones I love best are Vol 4 & Sabbath Bloody Sabbath! Now going into their next phase where DIO was fronting - Heaven & Hell Mob Rules and Dehumaniser! Oh, those good ole' school days!

My wife and I listen to a lot of metal. Infact...she went to Georgia Home Theater and played Korn on the XRT1K, C1000, and 2301's. I wasn't there. She blasted the place and then bought the XRT1K's.
Some favs are Disturbed, Korn, Godsmack, Metallica, White Zombie amd others. Most of my music is either funk or metal. jc

Wow, such a wide range here and in no particular order: Beatles, Al Stewart, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heap, Renaissance, Mountain, Cream, Blind Faith, U2, Styx, Moody Blues, ZZ Top, Berlin, The Verve, The Cure, Talking Heads, Rush, Steely Dan, Traffic, Neil Young, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Depche Mode, Pink Floyd… too many to list. By far the biggest part of my music collection.

What is your favorite live Rock album?
I really like the Eagles, Live Also like, two songs on Lou Reed's Rock and Roll animal - Sweet Jane, and Rock and Roll. I also have a 2 disc Warren Haynes Live Show from the Jam cruise 6, I downloaded from somewhere, not sure where, that I really like.

I just received Snakes and Arrows live by RUSH on BluRay. It is a very good recording with spectacular video. The song list is excellent, spanning 35 years of their greatest hits.
If you love hard driving progressive rock, You will love this album. Every song is fantastic and their professionalism knows no equal. BTW, I am very biased.
