Default Model train for tree

Growing up I had/have a LGB train set ... oh the hours spent with that. But now I have less space and was thinking about an N series train.

Does anybody have one?

My youngest son modeled in 'N' , IMO, it's way to small to be 'on the floor and around the tree'. While I model Gauge 1 (LGB) outside on my live steam railroad I prefer Lionel (O gauge) around the Christmas tree

For the first time this year around our tree in the lower level we put my wife's Dad's train that he had when he was a kid. We had it checked out this summer and purchased a newer transformer. This is the first time this train has been out since the 1930's.
