JBL L250/250ti

Another unique design that came from JBL in the early 80's was the L250, which later evolved into the 250ti, pictured here. This is another rather unusual design that may not appeal to everyone, but I liked this one too. The L250 and 250ti's baffle was truncated to provide an ideal width for each of the drivers, and was sloped from front to back to provide a time-aligned array.

These were highly regarded systems in the day....any comments from the JBL gallery here on this one? Any experience with them? How do (did) you like them?

Pete.......OH BOY. I have always admired the JBL L250 and L250ti, especially in the walnut verneer. I have been tempted several times to buy a pair.

Ivan....I always thought these would look good in my room. When the L250 was introduced in 1982, I went and auditioned a pair and was impressed. But, I didn't feel that they were that much better than my L220A's, which I'd had less than a year. (I bought mine right at the end of the run, just before the L250 was introduced). But, I loved those wood cabinets!

Yes, this is one of the very few systems I would consider replacing my L220A's with. I'd be putting liquid gold on those cabinets constantly. (Of couse, I do that now).

A timeless design both aesthetically and musically. Four top quality drivers housed in a beautifully constructed enclosure using a "state of the art" (for it's day) crossover design. With the right components they are still a mighty impressive speaker system. I did audition a pair of these in the early 80's and fell in love, but like Pete had a pair of L220's that were only a few years old. Always wanted a pair and even today if the deal were right would gladly ad them to my modest JBL collection.
