Maybe, since I spent $70.00 and waited two or three weeks for my Jena Labs jumpers to come in, I just wanted them to make my MA7000 sound better, so much, that I my imagination played tricks on me. . . and fooled me into thinking my system sounded better, and when I put the original jumpers back "just to see", my imagination took control again, and I just thought it didn't sound as good. . . . .

Kinda like switching wires, power cords, electrical outlets, putting small stones on your amps, and a bunch of other, so called "improvements", - your ears often hear what your mind wants them to hear, and the more you spend, the more your mind, and your imagination, wants to fool you.

I still think my MA7000 sounds better with the better jumpers - Boy am I fooled!

Julian - don't think anyone is doubting what you hear. The MA7000 and MA6600 are totally different beasts. As a result, what works for one will not necessarily work for the other. As far as cables of all sorts (ICs, speaker, power), I try to limit myself to spending no more than 50% of the cost of my total system on them.

Different preamps:
- no EQ in the MA6600.
- no display in the MA7000.
- programming abilities in the MA6600.
- no TM2 module capability in the MA7000.
- different number and orientation of inputs/outputs (too many to detail).

Different amps:
- 250wpc for the MA70000.
- 200wpc and latest output transistor tracking circuit technology in the MA6600.

Quite substantial differences. Not that one is better than the other, just considerably different, which is to be expected in that the MA6600 is a 5-year newer design.

These are the obvious differences that I was referring to. I don't see how using or not using aftermarket jumpers would make any difference listening to typical music at normal volume levels.

Julian, I am not in a position to say if you can or can not hear a difference using aftermarket jumpers with your MA7000. In my mind, to assume that you do, you also have to assume that the stock jumpers are in some way degrading and that McIntosh knowingly provides jumpers with their integrated amps that sound inferior. I do not have any basis or reason to substantiate these assumptions and they are not consistent with my conversations with the engineers at McIntosh.
