Glad you enjoyed it. I should try and invite Cookie Marenco to join us here at AA. She is very helpful with everything to do with Blue Coast Stuff.

Having done a little research online, it should be very simple. Just go to Utilities on the Mac, go to Midi set up, click on output settings and change it from the default 44.1khz to 96khz, change 16 bit to 24 bit and connect a mini toslink from the laptop or desktop to your 96khz capable dac.

Gonna try it tonight and since I have WAV 44.1 and Apple lossless versions and the HD ones all together, it should be possible to see what differences there are.

BTW, Cookie mentioned that the entire 96KHZ blue coast collection will be available as a download package after June 1st but if you download them before then as they become available then it is cheaper.

Smile Thanks for Listening to our 96K files!

Hello all!, Thanks, Howie, for inviting me to this forum. I'm very excited to reach more people around the world of music with great audio and incredible musicianship. We hope to release new tracks every week (Thursday-hint) for our regular tracks and one or two Special Events a month. It's an ambitious schedule, but, with your support and spreading the word, we can continue to pursue our goals.

Thanks so much. I welcome any questions or suggestions.

Best,
Cookie

To caputure 24/96 on a mac you have to go into the audio midi set up and adjust the import and playback settings or everthing will automatically downscaled to the default which is 16/44. If you click on the top right hand corner of the magnifying glass and then type midi for the search it will find the audio midi set up to open and make the adjustments.

David & Howie,
Thanks for the tips. I'm new to the Mac OS. I was wrong about the quality that was loaded into iTunes, although it sounded better than the streaming samples. I found the utilities & updated it, but it looks like iTunes is still capturing it at the 44 bit rate. I'm going to have to troubleshoot this a bit more, probably not 'til the weekend - must be missing something that will make me slap my palm against my forehead!

Edit - OK, figured it out. Wow! The detail is amazing, and listening at higher volume is simply enjoyable.

The problem I have with 24/96 files in iTunes is you have to quit iTunes and go into Audio/Midi setup, change to 24/96 and reopen iTunes to play the track. This is a problem when you have mix sample rate content. Pain in the A**!

Boy, it sure sounds like Internet downloads, and hard drive streaming is fun and convenient.

Paul.......Just poking some fun at the computer geeks in the crowd, of which I am one. Trust me, I use both PC and Apple Power Mac G5 computers in the studio with great software like Cubase, Apple Logic, Sonar 8, Reason, Traction, and others. I am fully aware of digital music. The future will improve everything digital, recording, delivery, and playback. We are presently enjoying higher quality sound than ever before, and I look forward to all the future holds.

An emphatic +1.

Nothing beats the convenience of a properly configured music box, and the sound quality is typically second to none.

Ok may be someone can help here. When I go to the audio Midi setup and click on output, the only choice I have is either internal speakers or multiple speakers (i.e. including an airport express). I have no option for 'digital out' so when i connect a mini-toslink to the macbook Air nothing comes out but when I unplug it the sound is back in the internal speakers.

Any thoughts?

Under properties select built in output and you can use the digital out
