Default New plasma

I am still a big fan of plasma TV sets. While there still may not be anything quite like the Pioneer Elite Kuro that I have, I do need to buy a few more sets soon. What's really good out there these days?

Serge, the Panasonic plasmas are very good. In fact, their 3D capable plasmas are considered by many to be the best at 3D and outstanding in regular 2D HD. However, I understand that their new models coming out this fall are to incorporate the Pioneer Kuro technology that Panasonic has recently purchased the patent rights for from Pioneer. I am waiting to get one of those to replace my 2006 vintage Pioneer PRO-FHD1 plasma that is the second display in my upstairs theater.

Samsung 7000 series is the way to go. You can turn them into an 8000 series from the service menu.

The Panasonic VT25 is the best affordable plasma you can purchase right now.

If you want best of the best and don't care about 3D (and price), Panasonic's Premier series or Runco's plasma offer incredible images. I believe Runco uses Panasonic Premier's panel, but adds its proprietary coating and processing engine.

love the plasma's as well..right now i enjoy a samsung but had to replace the upper and lower buffer boards within the second year.. .. a couple friends are happy with and have had good luck with the panny's.. also heard good about sharp too..
i remember reading california was trying to get the manufacturer's attention with a threatened ban on plasma's and LCD's because they are so power hungry..don't know if the new ones suck less..

I heard about that, too. My Kuro ELite 111FD doesn't take any more electricity than the 27" XBR CRT it replaced, though. Actually, a bit less.
