It's subjective to the situation.

You have my deepest sympathy for keeping your families safe. But I do feel sorry for everyone living in an area where a gun is the normal thing to bring to the front door if someone knocks.

If someone is pounding on my front doors at 3am then yes, I would probably take a pistol with me downstairs to answer, although I would keep it hidden as opposed to brandish it in front of the person's face.

At normal times of the day when most people are awake then no, I would be a paranoid lunatic for carrying my gun with me anytime I heard a knock.

I am not opposed to guns. I became quite proficient with pistols during my time in the military. I owned pistols for awhile after I was discharged. I also don't need a moat nor do I need a weapon to make me feel safe to go anywhere especially my own home.

I don't answer the door armed, I answer with 2 105lbs dogs that keep people 15 feet back. We also have a note that says "Baby is sleeping, please call before you ring the bell." We try to take ourselves off a criminals list by:

1. Having dogs - Criminals hate them and so do delivery people.
2. We have a well lit driveway, front and backyard with LEDs down every path, and tree lights to illuminate the property.
3. We know our UPS, USPS, and FedEX drivers. Everybody opens for them right?
4. We don NOT leave keys in the door. its too easy to break window glass and unlock if the key is sitting there.
5. Sign posted: We don't dial 911

Me too.

How about “Ring”?
not to intentionally hijack this thread, but does anyone have this installed and does it work?
