It'll be a while before OLED's come down in price to the level of a 65VT60 or 65ZT60. A 55" OLED is now $9K. A 65" VT60 is $2300. I would buy a 65VT60 instead of a 65ZT60 today, and then worry about my next 90" OLED for $3K in 5-7 years.

I read and watched all the reviews/shootout before purchasing my unit. Since I don't watch movie in the dark, the ZT suits me better. I don't need the brightness of the VT60 either. On my VT30, I had to dial down the brightness a lot to avoid eye strain.

I'm the type of person if I get the VT60, I know I'll regret it down the road.

I'm in the same situation.
I'm still very happy with it.
I'll wait untill it dies and by then OLED will be a lot better I think.

Whay are they stopping, and why dont we see like an 80" plasma.

Panasonic do make 85", 103", and 152" plasma, but they are very expensive.

Can they not make them at a more price freindly level and maintain great performance? Why are they so expensive to make?

When I talk to my friends and make recommendations to them, they almost never even consider a plasma. It's been that way for the past few years. They are bigger/thicker, less energy efficient, and look more dim/reflective at the big box stores where everything is turned up as bright as possible to stand out. LCD/LEDs are thinner, lighter, more energy efficient, and brighter and that is what your average Joe sees and hears from a marketing perspective. Plasmas are superior TVs in almost every way that matters IMO - I love my 50", and am very tempted to buy a 60" Panny ST or VT to replace/upgrade it before they are gone. To be able to pick up a 60" ST for under $1400 is a phenomenal price!

I heard the reason was profit margin was not there. I bought a 42" Panny Plasma from Buydig.com about 4 years ago, and love it. Since then, I hear (rumor) that some Pioneer Elite techs had gone to Panny. All the more reason to be confident, as Pioneer apparently made the BEST Plasmas. Damn, I bought mine for less than 2K, if memory serves around $1500. It sounds like demand, and overall situation has caused $ to go up.

After very happily owning a Panasonic TC-P55VT30 for two years (which I still own), I had to have one of the new 60 series sets after hearing and reading about their stellar performance.

Seeing both the VT60/ZT60 side by side as well as the Samsung F8500 several times, I finally chose a pro calibrated 65ZT60 and am very happy indeed with the performance. Not only is the ZT brighter than my VT30 but not once have I felt it was too dim in any of my room's lighting conditions. The Sammy was brighter but the ZT's image was just slightly more cinematic in tone, color and texture plus it has deeper blacks.

Somewhat like Pioneer with its gorgeous KURO line a few years ago, it's a shame that Panasonic quits the same year they produce what is sure to be their best plasma ever if not the best plasma ever made.
