JBL 4312A speakers in studio system - YouTube video

Today I moved the JBL 4312A's into the studio, placed them on their new stands and moved the speaker cables from the Amati Anniversario's to the JBL's. I also had to move the Silver Eclipse cables to the 8 ohm taps on the MC2301 amplifiers. This was a lot of fun and I was thrilled at how good the 4312A's sounded. I listened for about three hours to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Diana Krall, Sophie Milman, Lee Ritenour, Norah Jones among others.

I also shot a video of the JBL 4312A's playing Bonnie Raitt, "Million Miles" from her new Slipstream high-res download. I used the Canon camcorder's internal microphone and I wasn't expecting much, but surprisingly the music comes through fairly well. The JBL's sound very good with the MC2301's driving them.

Did you listen with and without stands?

Pete.......Thanks. I only listened to the 4312A's on their stands. This is the first time I have ever listened to them angled back. It really puts you right on axis. I was pleasantly surprised to hear what a nice sound stage the JBL's developed. I am positive if the Anniversario's were out of the room I could get the JBLs dialed into the room much better and get even more out of them, but that isn't going to happen. This is just a test run and the Anniversario's aren't going anywhere. I will leave the JBL's hooked up to the studio system for a day or two so I can listen to them with more music. They do sound sweet.

Pete.......I had a little issue earlier with the YouTube site not wanting to open, so maybe that was part of your problem. The video is running smooth now.

very nice looking Dan, and those over very good vintage sound, and near as good as a lot of mid range gear you can get today.

They mos likely needed little power to blast loud with Stevie huh?

Dave.......The JBL 4312A speakers have a rated efficiency of 91dB/1w/1m. This makes them as efficient as the Anniversarios, so the power needed for a particular volume level is about the same. The MC2301's were strolling along a about 12 to 15 watt peaks.
