Default Lumagen video processors

I searched for info on these in the forums, but only found passing remarks.

Are people still using these? How are the benefits with modern projectors? And while I'm asking, I'll push my luck and see if anyone is using one with a Sony VPL-VW1000es?

I'm looking at the new 2041 radiance model that outputs 4k, but my picture is so good now I'm wondering if its worth the headache (I assume there's a learning curve not to mention time for setup and working in with control system) and cost. Plus, beyond the lumagen you have to spend another $750 on chromapure software/auto cal add on/colorimeter....and find a USB-serial cable as well as a windows laptop.

Thoughts from the experts here?

Well let me start off by saying that I am not the expert here.... There are some that are using the Lumagen with the Sony 1000ES. I am not one of them. When I spoke to a friend on another site he says that it makes the Sony picture just about unbeatable comparing them to other high end projectors. If you want his contact PM me.

But with or with out the Lumagen I would have my projector professionally calibrated. You may have already done that...

So what is the retail on the Lumagen that you are looking at that works with 4K material?

Cheers,

I think retail is like $3200. It won't accept a 4k input, but will upscale to 4k out.

I'd love his contact info if you can PM it to me

Also no expert (REALLY not), but I can say that, compared to a DVDO Duo for example, the Lumagens will have a learning curve. But they are good.

See if this helps any.

I ordered it all up today. I can post back next week after I get it setup.

I'm a big fan of Lumagen... I use the Radiance in both of my dedicated Theaters.

Disclaimer: I am a Lumagen dealer.

They are crazy good, and extremely affordable.

Most people don't even need the Radiance model.

I'm excited. I stopped running Directv through my marantz already because the difference was noticeable. Not so much with blu ray but I'll separate that too since the oppo has dual hdmi outs. Then I can do everything else through the 8801 to the lumagen, and I have a spare input for something that may pop up....

Lumagen has come out with three new models, which incorporate the Darbee technology. They also support 4K I believe.
