The humble Chevy Nova always seemed to be a favorite for souping up.

Back in the day, these flags meant something.

Corvette.......Then and now. Corvette's introduction in 1953 made it the world's first fiberglass automobile. The six cylinder, Blue Lightning engine was actually a truck motor with a reworked manifold for a three carburetor set up. It's a long ways from the '53 C1 to the '09 Z1R.

The thread plus the recent Woodward Dream Cruise had me thinking of the cars I had since after I graduated from High School. I have photos of just about all but have not scanned them. So, I went out to the web and found pics of each of the vehicles. All are the correct color, but some slight differences in options.
My first car was a 1965 Mustang 2+2 Black on Black with a little 289 2-barrel automatic. I did not have mag wheels on the one I owned, just stock wheel covers. I had this from around Nov of 67 to about April of 68.
The second car was a 68 Torino GT Gulfstream Aqua with a black interior 390 with a 4-speed. This I owned from of April 68 until about December of 68.
I traded the Torino towards a 69 Mach 1 Super Cobra Jet 428 Automatic. This was Indian Fire Red with a black interior. I owned this from December 68 until I totaled it in June of 69.
I purchased a 69 Lime Green GTO to replace the Mustang. My Goat did not have the concealed headlamps that where an option show in this pic.
More to follow.

I only kept the Goat about 6 months and started looking for a used Vette. I found a '69 427 with Tri-Power and hydraulic lifters which was 400hp. This vehicle had the factory side pipes, black interior and 4-speed. I sold the Goat to my girlfriends parents and owned the vet until I was drafted in February of '71.
When I was discharged in Feb of '73 I purchased a '73 Blue/Green 454 Vette with s 4-speed trans. I should have kept this Vette but sold it and bought a 77 Blue small block with 4-speed. I had this when I was married in Feb of 78 and kept it until "we" bought a black over oyster 79. I kept this about a year and since I had purchased it with my GM discount at the time was able to sell it a couple years later for very little loss. I was out of these cars until about '84 when I purchased a 72 Red over black small block that I kept about 3 years.

Did someone say Corvette? I've owned a few myself over the years.
At one point I guess you could say I had an obsession with them and used to collect models of every year I could find. Of course the bad experience I had with my last Z06 made me change my mind about the whole reliability and specifically lack of customer service from GM.... It is rather odd that I had to call 7 local dealers to fix my Vette and not one of them could do it... You see, not one of them had a "Corvette" mechanic.

Can you imagine taking a Lexus, MB, BMW or Porsche for service for them to tell you they don't have a mechanic for that particular model. Crazy..... I still could not find a dealer that would fix the damn window that wouldn't go up and after being told to take it to the dealer 120 miles away where I bought it, I sold it at a loss swearing to myself to never to come back to the brand.
