Hey guys,
Just got my hands on some jbl L166 speakers in amazing condition, from a shop in town for about 15 dollars. They need to be refoamed and dont know where i can get a good high quality refoam kit! I also want to change the back speaker binding posts with higher quality ones. I have checked parts express for both the foaming kit and the binding posts, but cant decide which would be the right choice for the speakers any help on which to buy. Also need recommendation on cables i can use to replace the stock cables inside.

Thanks,
Eduardo

Default Refoam Kits JBL Speakers

Check out Midwest Speakers in Mn. for the real deal for JBL. They have an offer running on ebay. Email them for the model of the speaker you want to refoam or they will do it for you. It is listing number 160461352031. I have used them and they do great work. Normally if you go to a JBL repair they want to recone the speaker because JBL doesn't believe in doing a refoam, but these guys do good work. Cheers, Frank

Default Refoam

I believe out there in California you have Orange County speaker repair as well and from what I hear they do good work too! Also check out the Lansing Heritage Forum as many of the members there have reform kits for JBL

Im listening to them as we speak and they sound i think amazing!! Great tight bass, clear highs, everything sounds really good right now. Does the new foam need to be broken in?

Default Break In

The way alot of stereo stores do it is to place the two speakers facing each other up close and let them play. (med. volumn) This will do the job much faster than waiting for it to happen on it's own. So your answer is yes, they do need to break in.
