Sorry - just reporting what we heard. In my store, we compared the music on my clients olive and then ripped the same cd to the mac mini with pure music. The olive went into the processor via spdif and the mac mini went firewire then to a weiss firewire to spdif converter - then into the processor via spdif. the difference was not subtle.
Maybe there were settings in the olive that weren't set correctly - I don't know - but those were the results.

Jitter vs. non-jitter. The digital cable used could have also been a factor in the poor SQ.

I checked out the Olive at Magnolia today. I don't have the patients for it to start up.

Mike.......If you are powering up the Olive 04HD from the main power switch on the back, then it has to load the operating system. I leave the main power switch on all the time, then operate the Olive from my iPod Touch. Music plays instantly, not waiting. You only need to press the front panel power button if you wish the LCD display to come on. Operating the Olive from the iPod Touch, I don't need the screen to be on. I see all I need to see on the iPod Touch screen. There is no need to turn off the main power switch on the rear of the Olive once it has booted. My Olive is powered from an APC UPS so there's never a power interruption. I select an artist or album on the iPod, press the play symbol, and the music begins immediately.
