Default ML-2 .... good preamp option?

I just bought a pair of ML-2 (toroidal) power ámplifiers that have seen almost no use, and would like to pair them with a preamp that help them to create magic. In your experience what brands/characteristics need to look for?, old or new models?, is not a matter of cost (within limits of course), is much more a matter of synergy. They will be paired with an avangarde UNOs original series speakers.
Thanks in advance
