Default Dacmagic quality through USB vs. optical

So i ordered a Cambride Audio Dacmagic to use as an external Dac between my music server and my stereo. my server (Dell tower) does not have a sound card so I was going to run the USB from the server to the Dacmagic. I have read some reviews that say the Dacmagics are not so magical when using the usb in stating that the DacMagic USB input is only 16bit and 44.1/48khz.

Any thoughts - am i better just getting a good sound card ?

I've read that jitter reduction is MUCH better via coax instead of USB.

The DAC in the MX-119 is nice, but a little too warm for me.

and it wont allow you to run the signal to both zone a & B - seems sort of short sighted on mcintosh's part - now i have to buy a dac to make the same digital source play on both zones
