Interesting albums you play Carlos!

Listening to Telemann - Concerto for woodwind instruments
Camerata Köln,

This is lovely chamber music.
Telemann was one of those very productive composers that tend to be underestimated/overlooked.

Default Beethoven: Symphony No. 4

^^^ Love, Telemann.

Ok. Here is more mainstream music...

Beethoven: Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 60
Giovanni Antonini, Kammerorchester Basel

One of my favorite interpretations of the 4th. Intense and passionate. The Sony SACD recording (one their last DSD efforts) is splendid.

Mainstream?! It's the best of the best!
I never tire of hearing the classical top works.
I don't have that with pop music.
But Beethoven's symphonies, or Bach's Cantatas, I can hear them time after time...

This arrived today:

Ravel - Orchestral Works 1
Orchestre National de Lyon, Leonard Slatkin

These works are all masterpieces.
Wonderful surround sound.

More French delight:

Fauré - Requiem - Cantique de Jean Racine - Super Flumina Babylonis - Pavane - Élégie
Orchestre de Paris
Choeur de l'Orchestre de Paris
, Paavo Järvi

Sound & image: it's all a feast and ideal to enjoy these very beautiful pieces.

(Julian, I know you adore this; unfortunately, this disc refused to function when you were here, but it works like a charm again now)

+1

More Beethoven...

Beethoven:
Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67
Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92
Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Manfred Honeck

A very punchy and exciting performance by Honeck and his fine Pittsburgh band. I'm liking the recorded sound better than before. Just listen to it loud.

Just back from vacation and first serious listening in a couple of weeks, starting off with a repeat of this excellent recording.

Brilliant playing, Giltburg has a very nice light touch in the softer passages and plenty of drama when called for. The sound is very good as well.

Beethoven - The Symphonies

Blu-ray 3: Symphonies 7-9

I keep on playing these.
They've become (one of) my reference recordings.
The good video adds to the experience.
