Like a couple of others who have posted, my vocals were lifted my improvements in cables and power conditioning. I believe it was the reduction in noise that did it

I have a Niagara 1200 and Thunder cables.

I don't know your budget or dealer situation, but since you have 802s, I think your budget must be large. I use Nordost QKore and QBase with a Frey 2 power cord. This is about $10,000. If you have a dealer who will let you borrow a set up like this for a few days, I think you should try a demo. (I do not recommend buying any sort of power or cable gear without a home demo.) On my 704 S2s, I found that a slight backward tilt lifted the voices (and the soundstage) for me.
