I'll say that from what I have heard the PMC OB1i's are going to be really hard to beat in this price range.
At $7499 retail you'll have plenty of coin left over for good cables and maybe even a few room treatments. PS I would also cast a vote for K-Horns except that so few people have the right room for them. I wish that I did. |

I prefer an ESL, hence my pick for the Martin Logan Spire as Audio1 noted above if one has the ability to place them correctly. The DynAudio C1 was for a bit my first choice until I heard the Spire.

Aerial Acoustics...
Lots of models to choose from. +1 on the Revel Performa Line. No one in your town carrying either of these.

Gordon I used to own C1's and loved them, but once I went to the Summit X's I never looked back.

Perfect candidate for the 60th Anniversay editions. Yes, over $10k but they do not require corners since they have their own "false walls" built onto the back of them.

FWIW, I think the finished backs are to allow some toe in while having cleaner cosmetics. Klipschorns require a wall extension of about 4 feet from the corner for the wall to properly act as the final flare of the bass horn. Obviously, the finished backs do not accomplish this. If this wasn't the case, I suspect PWK would have finished the backs a long time ago.

I imagine the X has a fuller bottom due to the extra woofers and an additional adjustment which I find somewhat lacking in the Spire. If I'd get off my rear end and buy the subs, all would be well. I hope! Too many other things going on right now to jump into that. Soon Ivan! Gordon |
