No worries brother!

If I had had a sword, I might have committed hari kari after listening to 'The Ballad of a Runaway Horse' a thousand times trying to teach my ears the Masters Process. I walked away and just listened for months only to try again and have break through moments. It is worth the journey!

I suspect anyone who has been tinkering with audio for a while has run into frustrations with speaker placement. Stick with it!

I ran into that wall with the Vandersteen Treo CT unlike previous Vandersteen's. So after a year of tinkering endlessly I gave up and sold them. Chances are I will come back to Vandersteen at some point higher up the lineup but at the time my sanity was more important. Their replacement the Nola KO was a whole lot less trouble. I suspect it was a combination of room, gear and speakers but at the time to many variables.

Mark...In my experience, it takes up to 4 months on average to optimise a speaker. I feel your pain! And yes a fraction of an inch can mean the difference between just good and sublime. In my case, it was 1millimeter of addition toe-in after experimenting for 3 months.

Oh, I know.
I don't mind Jennifer Warnes although she's not my first choice, or second for that matter.

That said, if you had to rank popularity by how many times you've listened to an artist, she would shoot up to top 10 status for sure.

The Masters setup is the holy grail for many, but have not worked for me - probably due to impatience while doing it.
Allthough I have moved my speakers around 200 times in my room and noted all differences.

Two sources i've found to work best as good starting points for me is :
http://www.barrydiamentaudio.com/monitoring.htm
And the manual for Vandersteen speakers.

Both of these evolve around having speaker/listening position in odd dimensions and might give some new inspiration.

Good luck

Mark, hang in there man. Speaker placement is so frustrating, but also so rewarding when it clicks in. My Wilson Sophia 2s took 8 hours of minute adjustments with the help of a former dealer trained in the Wilson method. I was tearing my hair out. And then, it was suddenly, awesomely right. You will get it.

You did not sound like a jerk just like someone who spent a lot on speakers and is not happy..... I run a REL G1 but don't really need it. Give it some time with the setup but add a REL it complements the Futuras beautifully. I don't think it is possible not to like these speakers....... what did you have before?
