Agreed on all counts. I may have mentioned this in another thread (that's what getting old does to you), but I called ARC the other day for some parts for my Dual 75a, which I bought in 1974 or thereabouts. Spoke to Calvin, who couldn't have been nicer. They still support a product they made almost 40 years ago!
I used to deal with Leonard there. Anybody remember him? When i had my SP-10 preamp back in the late 80's- early 90's, he always took my calls. And, they were many.
Good company. Got to meet WZJ once back in the mid-70's. He terrified people, at least at the dealer level.

Leonard Gustavson is married to Ruth, the long-time receptionist. Both are retired.

ARC's customer service is fantastic, I have always really enjoyed talking to them. It is especially helpful as there is no dealer in Vancouver which is a shame.

Yep, i asked Calvin about Leonard, and he did tell me Leonard was retired. I didn't know about Ruth, but i'm sure I had the pleasure of talking to her back in the day.
Thanks for the background. I always meant to visit the company, but I've still never gotten to Minneapolis in my travels.

I've read that he was quite the perfectionist and that if a dealer did not have his equipment properly set-up that he would cut them off.

Wow, It's so nice to hear that a high-end brand knows how to treat its' customers. Very refershing. Especially when "other" supposed "high-end" brands have such incredible horror stories in the customer service side of the business....

Incidentally his name is spelled "Kalvin" for what it's worth

They are indeed awesome. Not only is their equipment, IMO, the best out there but when a problem arises (and it will arise) they stand behind their products and have great turnaround times and will go out of their way to accomodate on $$ and downtime.

We got to meet him WZJ at Jonas Miller's store on Wishire many years ago. He was very pleasant and of course and into music and reproduction of it. Great timing that day as we got to listen to the Beveridge system with him.
