Default Esoteric X-05

So I am still very happy with this older X-05 - in recent comparison I even find it plays better than many streaming devices. I think it sounds really warm, smooth & even somewhat analog.

Now there`s "better", "different" and "personal taste" - I love vinyl and probably therefor love the warm analog sound the X-05 brings.

My question - do newer models follow a similar sound direction and are they significantly better?

Anyone compare?

Best to ye all,

Chris

Chris-

I have not made a comprehensive comparison, but I have played the X-05 next to the K-01XS. Now I have an updated K-01XHD, which sounds, for my listening preferences, better than my old K-01XS, the DCS Vivaldi One, and the MSB (Select Transport-Select DAC combination). However, these differences are slight, not earth-shattering, so I suggest that you listen to a K-01 and make your own decision.

Thanx for the reply - how big were the differences between the x-05 and the K-01xs… ?

I have a Black X-05 and it has been flawless in operation and sounds excellent, however I don't find myself listening that often as I prefer my vinyl rig with a VPI Classic 3 with a Cadenza Black cartridge playing through a JC3+ Parasound phone stage. Just sounds more alive.
