Unfortunately for Ted Nash, it seems as if they're accusing him of just phoning it in when compared to Getz' contribution.
Yes, strings were the thing in the 50s, early 60s.
If I recall well, even Charlie Parker recorded something with strings.

Ted Nash's contributions are very enjoyable too, but I think he was not the publicity magnet that would draw people to buy this record.

plus oboe, french horn and harp; double yikes!!

I wonder if Granz felt it should be clearly called out in the album titles just as today's producers/labels use the Parental Advisory label. No surprises, no returns.

Damjan Krajacic - Visions
Download Flac [24/96]
There are many sounds expressed on this album, but overall this is very atmospheric. The Flute and Piano lead the solos, but the bass & percussion fit perfectly in the sound field.

A delight to hear on Reel-to-Reel. Laid back, and liquid vocals. Don't remember the bass having this much grip and texture on the vinyl pressing.

Playing again, but this time on the Otari.

No. No I don't.

Has anyone ever seen an explanation for this cover art or is it just pure randomness? Bronze of legs pointing skyward, red orb, water glass with one ice cube, egg.

Great album, no doubt, but I've always been intrigued by the cover.

Yes the R2R releases are fun, and a joy to hear. I have these recordings on Vinyl & SACD. I enjoy the tape most, better dynamic range, and bass response.
