Don't forget to set the room up for sound. Acoustic absorption, diffusion and base traps.
to me, It's a complicated and confusing process, but recording and mastering studios build rooms around sound. I would heed some of their principles when integrating a new set of speakers to your room. Wealth of knowledge on this forum and the internet. I also recommend getting a book on sound/acoustics. Specifically read/buy books geared toward listening and less pro audio. |

Everyone usually recommends what they like or have and it is a very personal decision. I would suggest you take your favorite demo cd and listen to Aerial Acoustic 7T's and Aerial 20T V2 speakers. Both are on Audiophile's Class A recommend list.
Good luck with all of your demos! Jim |

What a request. I agree that you should gather as much info as possible from those whom you trust. This site has been an invaluable source of credible info. In the final analysis, however, no one hears like you hear or perceives like you perceive. My strongest recommendation would be to trust your own ears. Is there a way to hear your top picks? The best audition is an in-home audition. If that's an impossibility, try I hear your speakers with the gear closest to your own at a dealer.

Or the Diapason Astera, you will get new ones within your budget and can be placed close to the wall. Is a superb sounding monitor, I've got the smaller brothers ;-)

I plan on narrowing it down to my top 5-7 picks by just reading and listening to others opinions. Then I will hunt down those picks and see how I personally feel about them.

The reviews on everything is amazing these days. Reviews are not worth nearly as much as they used to be. Funny, also that companies that spend ad dollars tend to dominate the reviews - even though the magazines like to deny it.
