Eva Slongo - Souffle

Another very good recent release, Qobuz 24/96

Discovering this talented Swiss classically-trained-turned-jazz-violinist, with a pleasant voice, playing here with one of my current favourite pianists

Edit 1: The Elipsas really excel at reproducing those violin notes, such a wonderful texture

Edit 2: adding a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTBph3FWacg

Eva Slongo - Violin, Vocals
Baptiste Herbin - Saxophone
Giovanni Mirabassi - Piano
François Moutin - Bass
Lukmil Perez - Drums

Chris Connor - Chris Connor

Staying with the 50's sensuous voices

Released in 1956 on Atlantic, via Qobuz (I prefer the more natural "LP" version to the Remaster, interesting exercise to compare them)

Fantastic recording.
Recorded in '85, with wonderful musicians to accompany the master: Philip Catherine on guitar, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse on bass and Hein Van De Geijn bass on some tracks.
At that time, I started going to our local jazz club, and I saw most of these great players live. Chet also came a couple of times, but unfortunately I couldn't go. I'm still very sorry, because 3 years later, he passed away.

It wasn't on Qobuz until recently.
Truly great album, one of the best from Baker's later period.
