Default September Stereophile -Wilson, SimAudio & Lamm

Just pulled my September issue of Stereophile out of the mail this morning. It looks like they do a big review of the Wilson Maxx Series 3 along with follow-ups on a couple of nice pre-amps, the Simaudio P-8 and the Lamm LL2.1 and LP2 Phono. I will let you know what they say later.

I found it interesting to read Stereophile's September issue, Letters To The Editor, where Michael Fremer suggested to a reader to place a warped album between two panes of heavy glass in a 150°F preheated oven. I just suggested that tip to Chuck and Audiophile a week or so ago.

Both you nearly owned (the Lamm you did!) ... if not for the Sasha impressing you first!

Maybe, just maybe, Serge, you may want to test your resistance level on the Maxx 3?

I am a masochists of sorts, will always try that once in a while. Sadly, each time, I succumb! Very weak!

I still have the LL2 Deluxe.

I have not ruled out the Maxx 3 for my next room but it will have to better the Sasha in a significant way to justify the price difference and I doubt that is the case.

The Maxx Series 3 looks like a robot.

Agreed and I like it! The design features necessitate the modular approach to enhance the time delay performance. The Aspherical Propogation Delay is what aligns the drivers for performance that is virtually unmatched. Wilson Audio: MAXX Series 3: The Midrange Driver

Understand Sasha is so fast selling, running out of stocks. Backlog all over the world! Also, due to such high demand, heard maybe, just maybe, Wilson may raise the selling price to $28k per pair!

Luckily, my High Violons MkIV are still sounding as good as ever and improving by the day ... which is a good thing! At least, I am strong, so far to resists ..... with their help of course.

And I am surely not going to utter / nor write the "LAST" word anymore!

I am not surprised that Sasha is doing really well. Many who are familiar with the Wilson line consider the Sasha a Maxx3 in a smaller, much more affordable package. This of course is a double edged sword, sell more Sasha but probably less of the Maxx 3 which I am sure bring more profit for Wilson.

I was planning on the Maxx 3 for my next room and now I am not so sure anymore.... My dealer was even hesitant to invite me for a listen of the Sasha that one Saturday afternoon as he foresaw that situation and knew that I was a potential customer for the Maxx 3.

In any case, I am not a bean counter for Wilson, just a guy who enjoys their current speakers. I'll have to audition the Maxx 3 thoroughly when the time comes. The Sasha may save me quite a bit of money if the Maxx 3 does not offer any substantial performance upgrade path over the Sasha.
