Yes Doug, pretty special and "virgin" in the sense that there's no noise, no pollution, not much development and you can see a number of animal species that are inherent to that place only. I think you'd love it.

Remote -sort of. It's some 500 km off the mainland but you can take a flight from Recife (lovely city, some fine beaches too) which is the capital city of the state of Pernambuco. If you are at all into soccer you can even attend a Sport Recife game although I wouldn't be so sure about the safety in that case haha.

You can go to the north of Brazil as it’s beautiful as well.
I wasn't aware of that. No sabía hombre!

I have work colleagues that traveled to Bahia quite often and yes that seems to be a very nice place away from southern Brazil.
Clearly I would stay away from northern S. America, the good thing about Punta del Este is yea you can be at the beach during our winter time. I've been there in mid December and its not populated yet. Brazilians own a lot of summer homes there and in Jan/Feb is when they and others take over the region.

It's a lot of fun.....

Yeah renting a cottage somewhere in "José Ignacio" (best area of Punta del Este) is a good shout.

So to wrap things up for me :

-Fernando de Noronha Island (Brazil)
-Punta del Este (Uruguay)
-Trancoso (Brazil)

Agreed, i’ll rather stay in Jose Ignacio, as it is much less crowded and a few minutes from Punta when you want to see the pretty girls [emoji39]

Exactly. Hint to Doug - Punta del Este = South America's answer to the Cote D'Azur

Fernando de Noronha is bucket list stuff. Don’t miss it if you can swing it.
