Hi all,

I come back to you. Do you have some news from ARC about the possibilty to upgrade my REF5 to the SE version? Has AR solved this problem?

Many thanks for your help,

jp

the updates are happening but at a slower pace than hoped as ARC has a limited supplier of parts (caps I think). Apparently, the supplier closed a factory and moved to another region and set up shop there. ARC is now getting smaller batches of parts but are not rushing, but ensuring that they are up to ARC's rigorous spec first. Make sure you have contacted ARC and have your name on their waiting list for the update if you are looking to do this.

Why does ARC not accept emails?

I was going to complain about the Australian distributor being dumped after 17 years by an email several days before the recent Australian HiFi show in favour of the new Sound Faber distributor. - gee see any link here? The new distributor, frankly does not have a hi end back ground and I am sure the days of being actually able to demo ARC products might be more difficult.
BTW, the ex ARC distributor also does Wilson and there has always been synergy there, as is pass labs are one of his other lines

Are you guys in the USA finding any trend in Sound Faber being pushed with ARC products and visa
versa? Adding McIntosh into the equation now.then again Mac and Sound have always been popular. Looking at Ivan's rmaf photos, at this point it would seem not.

Will independent speaker manufacturers still exhibit in shows with ARC into future ?

That is the biggest question for ARC users. And Magnepan too, both of which I own. So in this day and age of internet and social media, they want all customers to CALL them and have the hassle of checking time zones (I am in the Philippines) and monitor their office hours accordingly. I heard the either Mr. Conrad or Mr. Johnson attends to each email of customers personally.

I am like you living at the other end of the world. Pita not having an email.

Lew Johnson personally responds to my emails. Very nice guy as well.

I do find it refreshing that when you call ARC a person answers the phone and transfers your call to someone (normally Kalvin) who is very helpful and knows their stuff.
Many companies now do not even list a phone number on their website.

I do realise this can be problematic with time zones, but if you can plan your call accordingly ARC will take tare of you.

Old thread but still true. I had the LS28 SE upgrade and a gain reduction done recently and the customer service was excellent. I even received a personal call from the new owner Trent Suggs to discuss some Ref 6 options. The LS28 is my first piece of ARC gear and I look forward to acquiring more of their gear.

ARC and Bryston IMHO have the best service departments in the industry. I have used them both and have never been disappointed.
