Dan,
Yes I changed the 2 fuses in the C1000C yesterday night but did not have time for extended listening.

Dan,
You have probably one of the best power around, and it is not surprising when one knows what was your work.
In a few weeks, you should remove the HiFi Tuning fuses and reinstall the standard ones. My belief is that you will be more impressed by the HiFi tuning fuses than what you are today.

I am a skeptic on this one. I can't imagine what a 1/2 inch or less of silver and gold wire with 2 dots of solder can do for the sound. I particularly can't imagine how a piece of wire that short can work better in one direction vs. the other. Now, I say this, after buying the Alan Maher filters, which some people also thought were a bunch of black magic silliness, so I guess YMMV on any of these tweaks.

Maybe if it doesn't work you can crack them open and give the strips of fancy wire to your wife or girlfriend for earrings? Valentines days is only a few days away.

I wonder why McIntosh engineers have not already thought of this.

They also did not think about putting a decent power cord in their boxes, neither they thought about decent tubes in their preamps and power amps....

I have no expectation that McIntosh would do that, I'm just skeptical of the fuses.

Jérôme.......I will do this experiment you have suggested. I'll give the Hifi Tuning fuses a few weeks, then return the stock fuses to the C1000 and the MC2301's. Sometimes it is easier to hear what you lost than what you gained.

Chuck.......I understand the skepticism. I had the very same reservations about power cords. I told myself the total cost for fuses would be less than a single decent digital coaxial cable, so why not give it a try. Honestly, at the level we play in the audio game, gaining the last percent of performance can be an elusive journey.

Any idea what this means?

Taken from the Ultra Systems fuse site.
They have a model that has - "...special resonance and quantum treatments."

What do you think the special quantum treatments are?
