Default Holiday project time

Hello fellow Shindo fans. I though you all might like to see step one of my weekend Garrard 401 refresh. I have spindles and bearings to spare! The puny one is the original. Back to work.

Future home for the 401 (once I bore out the bottom to accommodate one of the giant bearings). It's veneered in something Chris Harban referred to as Japanese Cherry. The armboard is teak to match my Tannoys. My A-style Schick is on the way so I have some time to get ready.

Sorry for the awful iPhone pics. It's a lot of work to babysit and do audio projects.

Kev 313- Very nice indeed. Chris Harban builds gorgeous looking plinths. Best of luck with your 401. My friend has his in a Slate plinth, and it sounds wonderful. You are in for quite a treat !

The old stand by. My Teres with brass and Teflon platter currently sporting a Schick and SPU Synergy (which sounds superb into the internal mc step up of my Shindo phono pre).

That's a Shindo bearing / spindle and a custom one made by a guy who knows a guy who knows a machinist who lives in Italy. I'll be using it with this custom platter on the 401.

Fantastic. My understanding is that shindo does not sell 301 parts anymore - just the whole system. You are lucky to have the bearing.

Yes, I have the Shindo platter as well. That was sort of an accident, though I did try to buy them from Matt at one point and, you are correct, they are not really sold separately in the US. I originally was just buying the custom platter and spindle, but was made an unexpected and very attractive offer on the Shindo parts. Looks like I'll have to buy another Garrard!
