Fabulous on all accounts.
Indeed. This is the first hi-res file I ever bought, so it's special to me for that and its outstanding musical and audio quality.

All 4 symphonies in one go!
Recorded in '57, '59, and '63.
First listen, but I know these works quite well in other versions.
I'd say: not bad at all!

Listening again.
After having heard it so many times, I still think it is a great version, with good sound.
But... I think I'm spoiled by now with other top performances of these symphonies, modern ones, with better (also multi-channel) sound.
Technology has definitely evolved the last decades.

Take away one instrument from this recording and you end up with... complete silence!
Amazing recording.
And Telemann is absolutely one of my favourite baroque composers.

This goes with me to that desert island...

Elgar - Falstaff - Elegy - The Sanguine Man
English Northern Philharmonia, David Lloyd-Jones

Most of what Naxos brings out is worth to be heard.
This album is no exception.
Lovely works here, that remind me of Delius, who goes even more "pastorale".

Dvorák - Walton - Cello Concertos
Boston Symphony Orchestra, Charles Munch
Gregor Piatigorsky, cello

Going back to a classic interpretation of a top classic piece: the Dvorák Cello Concerto.
Nicely paired with the Walton Cello Concerto.
Julian described Piatigorsky's playing once as too hot, but some like it hot!

We saw this lady yesterday live, and she signed my copy.
This is fine viola da gamba music from a composer who lived at the same time as Sainte Colombe.
Lischka also plays in Collegium Vocale. She's a talented gamba player.

Last one for tonight.
We play it quite often.
