Should you buy an Electric Car?

Asked my 15 year old where Tesla's fall on the douche scale. Told her assume my 911 was an 8. She said Tesla was a 15. Guess she's not get a Tesla.

The serious question that I have is since Southern California can't generate enough power in the summer anyway ... think rolling brownouts we hear about when it gets hot ... when you add say 20 million electric vehicles in the state how are you going to generate that much extra power? Right now what's funny is that a bunch of the charging stations along the highway are powered by diesel generators. That's real green! LOL
