I think Esoteric had to make realistic choices. I for one have never used the front USB input on my Pioneer. There's no need once you have a large HD connected.

I think it is simpler than Esoteric making choices. My vote for why there is no USB connection in the front is purely aesthetics. It would look like crap with a cable hanging from that beautiful face.
