David...

Careful....you are on a slippery slope...

I really wish that I had never tried (heard) a $2500 cartridge...

It's a REALLY slippery slope. I wish I had never tried a handful of $10k cartridges...

It amazes me how much information is tucked away in those grooves. Every time I think analog can't get better, it jumps to another level! Got the Vitus Audio 2 box phono on the way soon. I can't even imagine what a $60k phono stage sounds like!

Well, we'll see....

For now, the "Schwing" phono stages on my list are:

ARC REF 2 Phono
Boulder 1008
Aesthetix IO
Naim Superline/Supercap

All different, all have their own unique flavor and way of doing things, but all amazing.

And though I didn't hear it in my system, the Ypsilon Y100 that our staff writer(and TAS as well) and Mikey Fremer both own was pretty darn amazing too. We've got a review on that one in our upcoming issue....

I think a $60k TT will sound just like my $3400 Modwright SWP 9.0 SE phono stage. All fun aside I think some higher price units do sound great but then again there are so many factors to consider when auditioning a unit: room, cables, system, and the list goes on but the bottom line comes to your taste and how deep your pocket is. I heard of a guy paying $15k for a pair of interconnect. That's deep pocket.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the ModWright is just the tip of the iceberg...
There is a lot more analog magic to be had. Just depends on how obsessed you are.
