Intriguing article:
http://www.salksound.com/wp/?p=56 Although it is nothing we did not know, the arguments are compelling against what we are all doing. (Can anyone tell me how to post a link that is "not active"?) Last edited by Musica Amantem; 03-31-2016 at 05:31 PM. |

Well, I'm using an active Subwoofer, crossed at 80 Hz, so that is taking care of low frequencies loading my Inspire. Open baffle speakers, I hear these have their own tradeoffs too. My gear sounds just right to my ears, but I was wondering what the high sensitivity specs are taking away from the speakers' sound potential. What is the sensitivity in those OB's? Thanks!

Excellent setup, indeed. Congrats!
My SPL needs are also modest, no HT, almost exclusively Jazz and classical, near field, small listening room, and while I'm very happy as it is, I would like maybe some more "slam" (not loudness) from certain classical music passages. Definitely, the theoretical 98 dBs at 8 Ohms rated sensitivity on my current speakers help a lot. Interesting about the Martin Logan Electrostats. I thought those would be prohibitively insensitive for the Inspire KT-88, that I also own. I guess it all depends on the particular SPL needs. I'm definitely considering a stereo Sub setup in the future. Thanks for the pointers. Last edited by Musica Amantem; 04-01-2016 at 04:54 PM. |

Pre amp coupling caps
I replaced the coupling caps in the LP27a with Jupiter HT copper foil/beeswax. They have to settle in but so far a good move in my rig.
