SF bay area weirdness

Finally found some free time on a Saturday afternoon and decided to listen to the reggae show on 89.5 KPOO. Fired the rig up dialed 89.5 in and all I got was hum. a couple of clicks in either direction was ok. I checked on line and the station was on the air. I did a little search using another public station, KALW 91.7. Both broadcast with the same coordinates in SF. KPOO broadcasts with 270 watts, height of the antenna 165 meters. KALW broadcasts with 1900 watts, height is 270 meters. FYI 89.7 KFJC Los Altos broadcasts with 110 watts. height is 562 meters. I have an FM antenna in the attic. I have never had an issue listening to KPOO before. By line of sight it 10 miles to SF and 27 to Los Altos. just weird. Its all good because KALW is playing Bluegrass signal. Im going to blame on the weather or extraterrestrials.

Think you've called it. When OTA FM is good, its great. When its not, its wierd.

There is new KEXP (originally from Seattle) on 92.7 and it's hard to get it without noise in San Jose. I was in the
City Saturday and Sunday for a tournament and it comes so strong. I have to look out
how much power they got, but it's a shame that it doesn't even get cleanely to the South Bay.

I just found out. It's 6000 Watts from the Sutro Tower in SF.
