Affordable Power Conditioner
Title says most of it. I currently do not have a PC and am looking for a decent one in the $200-300 range. I've been looking at APC units. Specifically the H10BLK and H15BLK which are $200 and $250 respectively on Amazon. Only requirement is that it's the "rack mountable" form factor, not the vertical tower looking things. I prefer new but open to used if theres a good deal to be had.
Any and all input is welcome! Thanks

The two below with different circuits and sockets can handle both front end products (CD and pre amp) and power amps. -Isol8 is good. -IsoTek Sigma EVO2 is good. A new one, EVO3, is coming so you could probably get a good price on EVO2. Good luck!

Have you considered the new Shunyata Venom Defender for $195? I purchased one to plug into my Shunyata PS8 Power Strip, but it will do the same tricks (power line noise filter and surge protector) when plugged into your duplex power outlet on the wall.

Thanks for everyone's input here, I truly appreciate it. I went ahead and ordered the APC H15BLK from Amazon and waiting on delivery. My initial reason for looking into this was I needed another outlet or 2 and wanted a level of protection between the electric company and my equipment, which I'm fond of. Also, wanted auto voltage regulation in the same package, if possible. I had a long list of PC's I considered, most were eliminated due to the inclusion of a cooling fan. Looking forward to trying the APC, I'm very happy with my systems performance at this time and don't expect an improvement with the addition of a PC. I guess we'll see, might be surprised.
Thanks Again, Joe

I agree, but I don't have any obvious noise issue. I am curious though and just hope I have a keen enough ear to detect any improvement. Joe

Would a power conditioner clear up faint motorboating sounds from the WiFi being picked up in the McIntosh C2500 MM Phono section? When I disconnect the power from the WiFi the sounds goes away (why I think it is the culpret).
The TT is 2 feet to the left of the C2500, the MacMini and Apple AirPlay WiFi are 2 feet to the right. The cords don't cross paths although they all share the same circuit. It would be very difficult to add more circuits. |
