Ive had the Krell since Jan 2010 and i find it to be a very solid performer.Connected to my Mcintosh C50 thru Balanced inputs it puts out some sweet sounding music that rivals CDP's in the $1500-2K range IMO...........actually i remember when i had a few Audiophile friends over when the new Sade album Soldier of Love came out............before they arrived i already had the album playing on the Krell KID........however they all thought it was the Bryston BCD-1(my CDP at the time).......then i pulled out the remote and paused the Ipod LOL...........i loved the look on their faces......needless to say that nite most of the music flowed thru the Krell KID and we were all amazed that an Ipod could sound so good........with major help from the KID of course

I have two KIDs. I love mine. Does it sound as good as my MCD 500, no but I do like it much better than the Wadia dock. It does make my iPod sound awfully damn good.

How can you compare it to the Wadia dock if the Wadia is only a transport?

Here is my input ..Have both Units
First the differences
KID has built in DAC ($2K) Wadia is a transport and needs a DAC to play ($200) Given the above: My KID feed to my Krell Receiver... Yes I have and love the KAV 300R (In my home office) going to a set of DynaAudio speakers My Wadia 170i feeds my McIntosh C48 which has the DAC to a set of B&W 804s The sound of both system is amazing... I am listening to Diana Krall though the Wadia in my den system as I type this. As long a you load the IPod with Lossless files, you will not believe how good the IPOD works. The IPOD classic (80gb) will hold about 255 cds. Inexpensive Music Player. Great systems either the KID or the Wadia.

I have had my KID for over a year and love it. I have it run balanced with Audioquest cables to my Anthem AVM 50 and it sounds great. I love listening to the music and try not to get wound up in the techno babble of what drives it, so comparing is not a biggy. My only negative is with the addition of the treble/bass like having an EQ. Plus it casts an erie blue light in my darkened room.
