Reception for MR88

I am considering buying the MR88. My concern is that my satellite radio does not get good reception in this location. Most of the time there is no reception, occasionally spurts of music comes through. I am using the supplied antenna that came with the kit for Sirius radio. Will the MR88 work?

You may need an outdoor XM antenna. These are very small and connect with co-ax cable, RG6.

It obviously depends on your location, but I get great XM reception with the antenna that came with the XM Connect kit. I have it in the attic above the room where my MR88 is, and it works well. Keep in mind that XM uses one satellite located just south of Brownsville, TX, whereas Sirius uses three satellites in complementary orbital paths such that you should have at least one available at any given time.

Ron is right that an external antenna may be needed, but I would try it first with the standard XM Connect antenna since you need the antenna base even for use with an external antenna. I got the XM Connect module and antenna combination for less than $35 from Amazon.

I use an external XM antenna here in North Florida, and the signals boom in, no problem.
