I am currently using a 052 as both my CD player and DAC. The 052 is connected to my mac mini via toslink. This is a wonderful DAC. The level of musical detail is way better than the Lavry da10, Benchmark or Beresford DACs that were in the setup previously. The 052 replaces a previous Rondo 992 CD player without the digital input option. Tolsink connection has the great advantage of eliminating a ground loop.
I like tube amps, but I love Burmester sources. I also have a rebuilt 915 tuner, with de-emphasis set for North America. Live FM broadcasts are stunning. I believe the 915 was the domestic German precurser to the 978 without the RDS. Simon |
