Ditto on the MC452. Fantastic amplifier!

When you can find 1 used under 10K, the Esoteric A02 qualifies...

If I were to get another pair of Focal speakers (which are wonderful) it would be difficult for me not to go with a Pass Labs 30.8 amp to drive them. Think it would be a terrific combination.

I auditioned several under $7500 and wound up with a Bryston. The new Brystons, like the 14B3 mentioned, are really wonderful sounding. Are they the best choice for you? Only your ears can tell! --and with that kind of money in play, dealers should set up extended home trials for you.
The Pass Labs units are really liquid sounding, and many love them. I tried the X250.8 and thought it sounded beautiful, especially on vocals, but it ran too hot for my space. For orchestral music, I really liked the Classe CA-2300, but in my exceptionally quiet room, I could hear the fan. However, most users can't, and with the turmoil at Classe, you may be able to get one (or the corresponding monoblocs) for a good price. Have fun! There are some wonderful amps out there in your range. I've named only a few of the solid-state ones -- models that I have direct experience with. Last edited by Mike-48; 04-28-2018 at 07:47 PM. |

For tubes, look at the PrimaLuna Dialogue HP monoblocks with KT150 tubes. Traded in a pair of McIntosh MC601 monos for those as they sounded much better in my system.

I've owned a lot of McIntosh amps, i'd pick the Parasound JC-1.
